The first report from Nielson Online looking at mobile Internet consumption in the UK has been published this week. The reports show that from Q2 to Q3 2008, the number of Britons using mobile Internet increased by 25% (from 5.8 to 7.3 million) compared to 3% for PC-based Internet (34.3 to 35.3 million Britons).
As one would expect the mobile audience is slightly younger with a quarter of the mobile audience aged between 15-24 and 51% of the audience under 34, compared to 37% for PC based consumption.
There is no doubt that the launch of the iphone, improved Nokia models and the future impact of the Google Android mobile ‘phones are all having an impact to drive mobile Internet forward.
Marketing on mobile applications is already quite mature. Agencies, like sister company Graphico, have been delivering succesful mobile campaigns for years. You can see a great case study here.
