Hewlett Packard Offers Blog Tools

Monday, January 21st, 2008

Hewlett Packard have launched a number of tools to help bloggers offer ‘print this page’ functions within their blog. The tool, which comes from their Tabblo Developer Site empowers bloggers to add the functionality to their blog making the tools easily available with plug ins for Wordpress, Blogger and Type Pad blogs. These plug ins enable bloggers to add the functionality in two clicks, removing any need for programming.

This is not the first time HP has offered innovative tools to encourage printing (their core business). The MOPY Fish screen saver is now over ten years old and going strong. If you haven’t tried it, the screen saver is a gold fish that you need to feed and look after, with additional treats and enhancements awarded by the number of times you print multiple copies of a document.

Offering blogging tools is a great way for a brand to align themselves with the blogging audience in a supportive role, rather than a direct advertising or PR methodology. At Cheeze we are promoting the importance of content and benefit to this literate and vocal audience growing up around ‘2.0′. By offering something of value, whether it is content or tools a brand can gain greater traction, support and promotion than may happen with a straight advertising campaign.
