For more than 50 years Norad (North American Aerospace Defense Command) have been tracking Santa’s movements on Christmas Eve as he deliver’s presents around the world. The tradition began 55 years ago when an advert, with Santa’s number misprinted, asked children to call Santa. Instead of getting Santa they went through to CONAD Commander-in-Chief’s operations “hotline.” The Director of Operations at the time, Colonel Harry Shoup, had his staff check the radar for indications of Santa’s where abouts as he ventured out on Christmas Eve.
The modern age has brought with it far more sophisticated tracking technology. Norad use four high-tech systems to track Santa – radar, satellites, Santa Cams and fighter jets. With this and the use of Google maps children and adults can track Santa on Christmas Eve either on their computers or mobile phones. All that has to be done is search for “norad santa” on Google Maps and his location will be displayed. Or you can just visit the Norad website. You can even track in 3D using Google Earth.

If you cannot wait until then for the tracking to commence you can always kill some time on the Countdown to Track Santa. Or if you work in the Digital Marketing world you can spend time tracking your online campaign because like Santa they will be working hard over the next few days as well.
